Description The Mohua is one of New Zealand’s rarest native birds, sadly now covering less than 5% of its original territory. Working closely with the Department of Conservation, Mohua’s McLachlan family are committed to helping protect this bird by contributing towards protection initiatives, and helping with relocation and sanctuary programmes. Grapes for the Mohua Sauvignon Blanc are sourced from the three premium Wairau Valley sub-regions each selected for the distinct characteristic each location brings to the wine. The cool climate enables a long, slow ripening period for the fruit, resulting in intensified flavours and a wonderful naturally crisp acidity. Exploding with citrus, grapefruit and peach on the nose, the palate is a wonderful mix of gooseberry, passionfruit and melon, delicious.
