Maybe yours is missing or falling apart? The original spare tyre lid is made out of 6mm thick pressed wood, that more often than not has taken enough moisture that it’s way out of shape. You can make yourself a new one by using the attached PDF/DWG files as a template or input for a CNC router/laser. The attached image is from a laser cut plywood lid. Paint or laquer is a must, even if your trunk doesn’t leak, condensation will most likely ruin any wooden/ish/ items there.
