Description The wines of Château Lamothe-Bouscaut have been much acclaimed since before the 2nd World War. A former fortress dating back to the 12th Century, the estate became under the formal ownership Sophie Lurton and her husband Laurent Cogombles who had already been running the property for decades. Made with minimal intervention, the vineyards of Lamothe-Bouscaut are managed sustainably and consist of deep, gravelly soils stretching down to the Garonne River. With only 6 ha in production, both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines are on average 40 years old and wines are matured in French oak barrels for 12 months. Deep and intense on the nose with aromas of black cherries, plum, blackberries and toasted oak. Concentrated fruit on the palate which is full bodied with firm yet silky tannins. Hints of white pepper and classic minerality. A real find!
